The Opportunity with McKinstry

McKinstry is looking for a Project Engineer - Data Center Construction to join our Data Center Innovations division in Pasco, WA. This role is responsible for supporting project management through documentation, procurement, and coordination with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure effective project execution. Additional responsibilities may include:

Project Management

• Support RFP and procurement processes.

• Track current and future jobs and assist with staffing projections.

• Review contracts, drawings, specifications, and related documents to answer questions and support project delivery.

• Coordinate equipment and materials procurement.

• Assist in the development of scope of work for subcontractors.

• Coordinate job set-up, mobilization, project administration, and closeout.

• Support scheduling and coordination of trades.

• Coordinate McKinstry scope of work with drawings and specifications.

• Assist with job start and project closeout documentation.

• Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reporting.

• Communicate with architects, engineers, owners, and other stakeholders to assist the Project Manager with duties.

• Coordinate field activities for self-performed and subcontracted work.

Documentation

• Create and respond to Requests for Information (RFI).

• Develop and process submittals for materials, equipment, and subcontractors.

• Create site-specific work plans.

• Create and publish Operations & Maintenance Manuals for clients.

• Obtain detailed knowledge of contracts, drawings, and specifications for assigned projects.

• Assist in the client and subcontractor change order process.

• Create billing breakdowns and billing substantiation.

• Update and manage all project files.

• Conduct quantity take-offs and pricing estimates as directed.

• Uphold and communicate McKinstry safety standards.

• Coordinate with the Safety Team to create and communicate safety plans.

Safety

• Ensure safety compliance of subcontractors and on-site personnel.

Communication

• Respond to Superintendents’ questions regarding contracts, drawings, and specifications in a timely manner.

• Resolve issues as directed by the Project Manager.

• Communicate with subcontractors, architects, engineers, and owners to assist the Project Manager.

What You Need To Succeed at McKinstry:

• Proficiency in all Construction Project Coordinator skills.
• Knowledge of construction concepts required.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, contracts, proposals, estimates, and related documents.
• BA/BS in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
• Architecture, Facilities Management, or comparable degree.
• Experience on large data center projects in preferred.

The pay range for this position is $29.55 - $44.00 per hour; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is considered non-exempt and will be paid hourly. A bonus may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
