Construction Superintendent Jobs in San Antonio, TX

Waterman Construction is seeking a hands-on, motivated Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on commercial construction projects across San Antonio and the surrounding region. Key Responsibilities

Field Operations & Execution

• Direct and supervise all daily jobsite activities, from mobilization and site work through punch list and closeout.
• Schedule, coordinate, and sequence subcontractors, vendors, and deliveries to keep work flowing efficiently.
• Read and interpret plans and specifications, and make sure work is built to drawings, code, and contract requirements.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, site logs, photos, and inspection records.

Safety & Quality Control

• Lead and enforce jobsite safety programs, including toolbox talks, site inspections, and OSHA compliance.
• Conduct regular quality checks and hold subcontractors accountable to Waterman's standards.
• Coordinate and attend municipal and third-party inspections, and resolve deficiencies quickly.
• Keep the jobsite clean, organized, secure, and professional at all times.

Schedule & Coordination

• Develop and maintain the field schedule alongside the Project Manager, including look-ahead schedules.
• Identify schedule risks, conflicts, and field issues early, and implement practical solutions.
• Run weekly subcontractor coordination meetings and participate in OAC meetings as needed.
• Communicate field conditions, RFIs, and potential change orders to the Project Manager in a timely manner.

Team Leadership & Communication

• Serve as Waterman's on-site leader and point of contact for subcontractors, inspectors, and client representatives in the field.
• Build strong, respectful working relationships with trade partners and crews.
• Mentor assistant superintendents and field staff when assigned.
• Represent Waterman Construction with professionalism and a solutions-first attitude.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent in commercial construction.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial building systems, construction means and methods, and building codes.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• OSHA 30 certification required (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire).
• Proficiency in Procore for daily logs, RFIs, and document control preferred.
• Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage multiple trades and priorities at once.
• Clear, effective communicator with practical problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Experience with Bluebeam, ProCore, and MS Project is a plus.
• Degree or coursework in Construction Management or a related field is a plus, but not required.
