LaCoe Trucking LLC is seeking an experienced, no-nonsense Heavy-Duty Service Manager / Operations Lead to run front-of-house operations at our commercial diesel facility in Kilgore, TX.
You will lead customer intake, heavy-duty service writing, repair estimating, and parts coordination while serving as the operational partner to our Shop Foreman. You must have command of commercial truck repair workflows, understand Class 7–8 component failures, and possess the backbone to enforce shop policies, manage scope expansions, and maintain clear boundaries with fleet accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Service Writing & Estimating: Build accurate labor and parts estimates for heavy engine overhauls (Cummins, Detroit, PACCAR, CAT), emissions systems, driveline, electrical, and running gear using heavy-duty shop management software (Fullbay experience preferred).
- Scope Creep & Teardown Management: Act as the gatekeeper when latent mechanical failures are uncovered during teardowns. Ensure photos are uploaded, estimates are revised, and formal approvals are secured before further work proceeds.
- Dispatch & Intake Operations: Manage daily in-shop intake and roadside triage. Enforce mandatory dispatch policies, customer deposits, and labor minimums without hesitation.
- Shop Flow Partnership: Work directly alongside the Shop Foreman to prioritize the unassigned repair queue, balance heavy overhaul bays against fast-turn work, and keep active bays moving.
- Fleet & Customer Relations: Deliver proactive, stage-based progress updates on multi-day teardowns. De-escalate demanding fleet dispatchers and hold professional, firm boundaries.
- Administrative Oversight: Ensure every vendor invoice ties directly to a Service Order before approval, audit completed tickets for billed-hour accuracy, and coordinate return credits on cores and unused parts.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Industry Experience: Minimum 3–5 years in a commercial truck dealership or independent heavy-duty fleet repair facility as a Service Writer, Service Manager, or Lead Dispatcher. (Automotive-only applicants will not be considered).
- Technical Literacy: Deep understanding of commercial diesel platforms, Standard Repair Times (SRTs), out-of-frame/in-frame overhauls, and commercial brake/air systems.
- Software Competence: Experience with commercial shop platforms (Fullbay, Karmak, Procede, CDK) and general computer proficiency.
- Leadership & Boundary Control: Confident communication style capable of managing difficult customer conversations, defending technician billable time, and leading office personnel.
- Licensing: Valid Driver's License and clean background.

- Compensation: Competitive weekly base ($1,800 – $2,250/week based on qualifications) with performance review milestones and production incentive opportunities.
