We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer with strong experience in CAD/CAM, SolidWorks, and CNC machine programming within a sheet metal fabrication environment.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing mechanical designs, converting engineering drawings and CAD models into production-ready programs, and programming CNC sheet metal machinery for cutting, punching, and other manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CAD/CAM programs for sheet metal fabrication equipment.
- Create and modify mechanical designs, sheet metal components, flat patterns, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and other CAD software.
- Prepare nesting layouts and machine-ready files for CNC production.
- Program CNC laser cutting, punching, and other sheet metal manufacturing machines.
- Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot programming and manufacturing issues.
- Improve material utilization, dimensional accuracy, and overall production efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field preferred.
- Experience in CAD/CAM programming within a sheet metal manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Dr. ABE, or comparable CAD/CAM software.
- Experience programming CNC laser cutting, punching, or related fabrication equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Hands-on experience with CNC machine programming is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of sheet metal design, fabrication processes, and manufacturing workflows.
Compensation
$25–$30/hour, depending on experience, plus competitive benefits.
