Construction Supervisor Jobs in Rhode Island: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a construction supervisor in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island requires construction supervisors to register with the Contractors' Registration and Licensing Board, which oversees licensing for construction supervisors and contractors operating in the state. Candidates typically need a high school diploma or associate degree in construction management, combined with substantial field experience in their trade. Holding an OSHA certification and completing a construction management program through the Community College of Rhode Island strengthens an application considerably.
How much do construction supervisors make in Rhode Island?
Construction supervisors in Rhode Island earn a median of about $98,590 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $58,240 for the lowest 10% to over $131,890 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire construction supervisors in Rhode Island?
Rhode Island construction supervisor roles are posted by Alta Rehab, Bento Sushi, and Delta Galil and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's active commercial and public-sector construction pipeline means regional and national general contractors maintain consistent supervisor-level hiring throughout the year.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most construction supervisor jobs?
Providence, Cranston, and Lincoln account for the most construction supervisor openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives the largest share of demand as the state's commercial and institutional hub, while Warwick and Cranston attract openings through industrial, retail, and residential development projects tied to the greater Providence metro and T.F. Green Airport corridor.
Are there remote construction supervisor jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, but they're rare. About 8% of construction supervisor openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how hands-on and site-dependent the role is by nature. The portions most suited to remote work are preconstruction planning, submittal review, and scheduling coordination rather than active field supervision.
How can I get hired as a construction supervisor in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving up from a laborer, carpenter, or assistant superintendent role with a regional general contractor in the Providence area. Firms like Gilbane Building Company and Dimeo Construction regularly bring on field associates who rotate through project phases before stepping into supervisory positions. Completing the construction technology program at the Community College of Rhode Island and earning an OSHA 30-Hour card before applying gives candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to construction supervisor jobs in Rhode Island?
