You will lead content design across our connected ecosystem, including mobile apps, device interfaces, onboarding experiences, support flows, service touchpoints, and other digital and physical product experiences. - Translate complex medical, technical, and regulatory information into clear, concise, user-centered language.
- Shape end-to-end user journeys by defining content needs, messaging hierarchy, terminology, voice, tone, and communication patterns.
- Partner with design and research to identify user needs, uncover content opportunities, and develop intuitive flows that support comprehension, confidence, and action.
- Create content for early concepts, prototypes, usability testing, product launches, and post-launch optimization.
- Use storytelling to connect user needs, product strategy, and business goals.
BUILD SCALABLE CONTENT SYSTEMS
- Develop and evolve content frameworks, taxonomies, naming systems, terminology standards, and UX writing patterns across the product ecosystem.
- Contribute to content guidelines, voice and tone standards, accessibility guidance, and reusable content components.
- Partner with brand and design system teams to ensure content aligns with ADC’s brand expression, product experience, and design system standards.
- Define content patterns for recurring product moments such as onboarding, alerts, confirmations, empty states, errors, permissions, data explanations, and support pathways.
- Ensure content scales across platforms, markets, localization workflows, and regulated review processes.
COLLABORATE ACROSS FUNCTIONS
- Partner closely with product, design, research, engineering, marketing, clinical, legal, regulatory, quality, and localization teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Lead content discussions in design reviews, critiques, research readouts, and cross-functional working sessions.
- Influence product decisions by identifying content risks, usability issues, comprehension gaps, and opportunities to simplify the experience.
- Help teams align around clear content requirements, messaging principles, and experience goals.
CHAMPION USER-CENTERED CRAFT
- Use research, usability testing, analytics, accessibility standards, and product data to inform content decisions.
- Write with accessibility and inclusion in mind, supporting screen readers, cognitive accessibility, plain language, and inclusive language best practices.

- Elevate content craft through critiques, documentation, mentoring, and shared standards.
EXPERIENCE YOU'LL BRING
Required
- 6+ years of experience as a content designer, UX writer, content strategist, or similar role.
- A portfolio demonstrating senior-level, end-to-end, user-centered content design across digital products, showing strategic thinking alongside polished execution.

- Systems thinking: proven ability to build and scale content frameworks, guidelines, and component libraries across multiple products or platforms.
- Experience leading and influencing cross-functional product teams, with strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills.
- Proficiency in Figma, including working directly within design files, component libraries, and collaborative design workflows.

Content Designer Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a content designer in California?
Content design has no state-issued license in California, so the path runs through education and portfolio work. Most hiring managers expect a degree in English, communications, UX design, information architecture, or a closely related field. Building a portfolio that shows real product work, such as annotated wireframes, design system documentation, or UX writing samples, is the practical credential California employers look for before extending an interview.
Which companies hire content designers in California?
Employers hiring content designers in California right now include TikTok, Amazon, and Apple, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's concentration of enterprise software, consumer technology, and media companies means content design roles appear across a wide range of product types, from mobile applications to enterprise platforms.
Which California cities have the most content designer jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Jose account for the largest share of content designer openings in California. San Francisco's density of technology and SaaS companies drives most of the Bay Area demand, while Los Angeles reflects a broader mix of entertainment, media, and startup employers, and San Diego draws from its growing biotech and defense-tech sectors that increasingly invest in product content roles.
Are there remote content designer jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. Content design is a desk-based, digital-first discipline, making it well suited to remote arrangements. About 32% of content designer openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how broadly technology employers in the state have embraced distributed work. UX writing and design systems roles tend to be the most consistently remote-eligible specialties.
How can I get hired as a content designer in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior UX writer role, which large California technology employers post as a distinct level. Companies like Salesforce, Intuit, and Cisco run early-career programs that include content design tracks. Adjacent roles in technical writing, marketing content, or product support often serve as a bridge. A portfolio built from volunteer projects, redesign case studies, or open-source contributions carries more weight in California interviews than credentials alone.
Where can I find and apply to content designer jobs in California?
You can find and apply to content designer jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that match your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
