Controller Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a controller job in Dallas?
Target Dallas's densest hiring pockets: mid-size private equity-backed companies in Uptown, real estate investment firms along the Tollway corridor, and healthcare systems and regional banks in the Medical District and downtown. Controllers with consolidation or multi-entity close experience stand out here, as do those with exposure to Texas franchise tax reporting. Networking through the Dallas CPA Society also opens doors that job boards alone do not.
Which companies hire controllers in Dallas?
Dallas controller roles are posted by Dallas Independent School District, Standish Management, and Applied Industrial Technologies and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The Dallas market skews toward large private companies, real estate operators, and regional healthcare groups, all of which maintain substantial in-house finance teams.
Are there remote controller jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though controller work is less remote-friendly than purely analytical finance roles because it typically involves managing close processes, overseeing AP and AR teams, and signing off on internal controls. About 17% of controller openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, most commonly at SaaS and tech-adjacent companies headquartered in the Telecom Corridor or Las Colinas. The most remote-eligible portions of the role tend to be reporting, variance analysis, and audit coordination.
How can I get a controller job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is moving through a senior accountant or accounting manager role at a local mid-market company and stepping into a controller title once you own a full close cycle. Privately held distributors and logistics firms in the DFW industrial belt frequently promote from within and hire entry-level accounting talent. A CPA in progress and NetSuite or Sage Intacct exposure make candidates especially competitive with Dallas's growing private equity portfolio companies.
Which industries hire the most controllers in Dallas?
Dallas controller roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Construction & Real Estate, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas's role as a regional headquarters hub for real estate, financial services, and healthcare means these sectors maintain large, permanent finance teams rather than relying on shared-service centers elsewhere.
