Job Description
The University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR) is seeking a dynamic Instrumentation & Control Technician. This person will take an innovative approach to supporting the MURR facility through maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing electronic systems throughout the reactor. This person should have a background in maintenance and electronics repair.
Key Duties Performed by This Position Will Include
- Perform maintenance, preventative and corrective maintenance, of electronic equipment and systems.
- Perform calibrations and tests of reactor, facility, and scientific electronic equipment.
- Develop the skills to diagnose causes for malfunctions in complex electronic equipment.
- Assists in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of all technical equipment with work assignments and guidance received from supervisors and automated work order system.
- Performs physical duties such as installation of conduits and cable pulls, and equipment wiring as needed for the installation of new equipment or equipment relocations.
- Operate simple machine tools, hand tools, common electronic instruments, and specialized electronic instruments.
- Communicates moderately complex technical information within the team, through written records, mechanical drafting, and verbal suggestions.
- Assists with the maintenance of files, technical literature, circuit diagrams, parts lists, inventory records, maintenance records and equipment locations.
- Purchases materials, components, and equipment.
- Diagnose complex multi-system reactor faults through interpretation of various indication, annunciation, and alarm systems related to reactor operation and control.
- Test and troubleshoot electro-mechanical control blade drive mechanisms utilized in the regulation of reactor power.
- Perform related duties as assigned.

Must be available for reliable and consistent onsite work
Shift
Monday - Friday; 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary, and on-call responsibilities will be required upon adequate training.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience setting up and programming PLC (Programmable Logic Control).
Ability to understand and troubleshoot instrumentation schematics.
Anticipated Hiring Range
Salary Range: $23.55 to $29.35 per hour
Grade: GGS-M05
