Counselor Jobs in Miami: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a counselor job in Miami?
Focus your search on Miami's behavioral health nonprofits, federally qualified health centers in Little Havana and Overtown, Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and hospital systems anchored in the Health District. Bilingual fluency in Spanish is a significant competitive advantage in most Miami counseling settings. Candidates who have completed supervised hours with a local agency and can demonstrate cultural competency with the city's diverse population move to the top of hiring lists fastest.
Which companies hire counselors in Miami?
Miami counselor roles are posted by Mount Sinai Medical Center, Mattamy Homes, and The Luminescent Mind and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Miami's hiring mix leans heavily toward nonprofit community health organizations, school district programs, and large hospital-affiliated outpatient centers.
Are there remote counselor jobs in Miami?
Yes, though remote availability depends heavily on the specialty, since clinical and school-based roles almost always require in-person presence while case management and certain administrative counseling functions can run remotely. About 25% of counselor openings tied to Miami are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting growing telehealth adoption. Virtual roles in Miami most commonly appear in employee assistance programs and telehealth behavioral health platforms serving the broader South Florida region.
How can I get a counselor job in Miami with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Miami is through internship-to-hire pipelines at federally qualified health centers and county-run behavioral health programs, many of which absorb graduate interns into paid positions after their supervised hours are complete. Entry-level openings also appear regularly at Miami-Dade County Public Schools as school counselor aides and at residential treatment programs in areas like Hialeah and North Miami. Highlighting bilingual Spanish skills and any volunteer work with Miami's Caribbean or Central American communities gives first-time candidates a concrete edge over equally credentialed applicants.
Which industries hire the most counselors in Miami?
The sectors hiring the most counselors in Miami are Healthcare & Medical Services and Hospitality & Tourism, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Miami's large uninsured and underinsured population, combined with substantial federal and state funding flowing into community health, keeps demand in those sectors consistently high year-round.
