INTRODUCTION
RCN Capital is a national, direct private lender supporting real estate investors across the country.
We're looking for a curious, technically inclined intern to help us explore and build AI agent solutions tailored to our private lending business. This role splits its time between research — mapping the AI agent landscape to our workflows — and hands-on development using Microsoft Copilot Studio with OpenAI GPT or Anthropic Claude models.
SCOPE AND AREAS OF FOCUS:
Part I — Research & Documentation
- Identify and evaluate AI agents suited for financial services and lending (origination, underwriting, compliance, servicing)
- Build and maintain an internal Agent Registry scoring tools on accuracy, compliance readiness, integration feasibility, and cost
- Interview internal stakeholders to surface high-value automation opportunities
- Produce a prioritized opportunity map with supporting business cases
Part II — Agent Development
- Design and build AI agents in Microsoft Copilot Studio using GPT-4 and/or Claude APIs
- Target use cases such as: document extraction, underwriting pre-screening, compliance checks, and borrower-facing communication
- Integrate agents with existing LOS, CRM, and document management systems
- Test, document, and hand off production-ready agents with supporting playbooks
REQUIREMENTS
- Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic) and prompt engineering fundamentals
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot Studio, Azure AI, or similar platforms is a strong plus
- Interest in financial services or fintech; lending knowledge is a bonus, not a requirement
- Strong written communication — you'll produce documentation and briefings alongside technical work
EDUCATIONAL PATHS OF INTEREST:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Full time during internship - 40 hours/week
- Onsite in either:
- South Windsor, CT
- Charlotte, NC
- Los Angeles, CA
- Standard schedule is Monday-Friday, 9AM to 6PM

Does an Agent Development internship qualify for CPT authorization?
It qualifies if the work is an integral part of your established curriculum and your school offers credit or a required practicum for it. Agent development roles involving talent acquisition, contract management, or client representation align with business, communications, and sports management degree programs. Your DSO makes the final determination based on how your specific coursework connects to the job duties.
Can I do CPT at a talent agency or sports management firm as an F-1 student?
Yes. Private talent agencies, sports management companies, literary agencies, and entertainment firms all qualify as CPT employers as long as the role ties to your degree program and your DSO authorizes the placement. These employers don't need to file any petition with USCIS for CPT. The authorization lives entirely on your I-20, which your DSO updates before your start date.
How do I find Agent Development employers who understand F-1 CPT timelines?
Look for employers with a track record of hiring international students on work authorization. Migrate Mate surfaces Agent Development roles from employers with verified work authorization filing history, which signals familiarity with DSO approval timelines. Bring your expected authorization date to early conversations so hiring managers can plan the offer timeline around it.
What happens if my CPT end date doesn't align with my internship end date?
Working past your CPT authorization end date is a status violation, even by one day. If your internship extends, your DSO must update your I-20 with the new end date before you continue working. Never assume an extension is automatic. Contact your DSO as soon as you know the timeline is shifting so the updated I-20 is in place before the original authorization expires.
Does CPT in Agent Development affect my ability to get OPT or H-1B later?
Part-time CPT, regardless of duration, does not affect OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT totaling 12 months or more eliminates your standard OPT entirely, though STEM OPT is unaffected. Agent development roles that run full-time through multiple semesters can quietly consume that eligibility. Tracking your cumulative full-time CPT hours from the start lets you make informed decisions before accepting multi-semester placements.
