Does a Regional VP Sales role qualify for CPT authorization?
It can, but your school must confirm the role is an integral part of your curriculum, not just related to your field. Graduate business programs with courses in sales strategy, general management, or organizational leadership have the strongest case. Your DSO will evaluate the job description against your specific degree requirements, so bring documentation from both the employer and your program.
Can I do CPT for a Regional VP Sales role that requires travel across multiple states?
Yes, but your CPT authorization is tied to a single employer and primary work location recorded on your I-20. Multi-state travel within the same job is generally acceptable as incidental to the authorized position. If you're splitting time between two distinct offices or locations, talk to your DSO before accepting, since SEVIS records one authorized worksite per CPT entry.
How do I find Regional VP Sales employers who regularly hire F-1 students on CPT?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with active DOL LCA filing history in sales leadership roles, which is the clearest signal that a company has sponsored F-1 workers before and understands the process. Focus on employers who have filed LCAs in your target region rather than relying on general employer reputation, since LCA history reflects actual filing behavior, not just stated openness to sponsorship.
Is there a GPA or academic standing requirement for CPT at this seniority level?
USCIS doesn't set a GPA threshold for CPT authorization. The requirement is that the work be integral to your curriculum and that you're in valid F-1 status. Your individual school may have its own minimum GPA or enrollment requirements for CPT eligibility, so confirm those with your DSO. Most policies require full-time enrollment in the semester you're authorized for CPT.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the employer restructures my territory or changes my title?
CPT is authorized for a specific employer, role, and duration. A material change like a title shift from Regional VP to another classification, or a change in primary work location, may require a new CPT authorization from your DSO. Notify your DSO promptly if your role changes, since operating outside the terms of your authorized CPT can create status issues that affect your future OPT eligibility.
