CPT Auditor Jobs
Auditor roles in public accounting, internal audit, and compliance fit CPT because the analytical and attestation work directly maps to accounting, finance, and business degree curricula. Your DSO can authorize CPT for internships, co-ops, or full-time audit positions as long as the work is an integral part of your program.

Get Access To All JobsAuditor CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an auditor role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, auditor positions qualify for CPT as long as your school confirms the work is an integral part of your curriculum. Internal audit, external audit, and compliance analyst roles all involve tasks, financial testing, controls evaluation, documentation review, that map directly to accounting and finance degree requirements. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific program.
Can I do CPT for a full-time audit position during the academic year?
Full-time CPT during the academic year is allowed but requires careful planning. Your school must authorize it, and full-time CPT is generally reserved for co-op or alternating semester programs where audit work substitutes for coursework rather than running alongside it. Accumulating 12 or more months of full-time CPT eliminates OPT eligibility, so track your total full-time CPT hours with your DSO before committing.
How do I find employers that hire F-1 CPT students for audit roles?
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with verified sponsorship history in audit and accounting roles. Firms that have previously sponsored F-1 employees through OPT or H-1B visa are generally more familiar with CPT documentation requirements and less likely to withdraw an offer over work authorization questions.
What happens to my CPT authorization if my audit start date shifts?
Your CPT authorization is tied to the exact dates on your I-20. If your employer moves your start date, which happens frequently in public accounting when client engagements shift, you need to request an updated I-20 from your DSO before your new start date. Working even one day outside your authorized CPT window counts as unauthorized employment under USCIS rules.
Does CPT work as an auditor count toward future H-1B sponsorship eligibility?
CPT itself doesn't affect H-1B eligibility, but the employer sponsoring you does. Audit firms that are enrolled in E-Verify and have filed H-1B petitions for prior employees are generally positioned to sponsor you after you transition to OPT. Confirm E-Verify enrollment with your employer and ask whether they have a formal process for sponsoring audit staff before you accept the role.
