Our 12-week paid internship program offers firsthand experience and meaningful projects that have an impact on our business. Throughout the program, you’ll have the opportunity to work alongside industry professionals receiving mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities that will expose you to various aspects of our industry.
Build Connections By:
Working alongside our Cloud DevOps department team that serves our customers, employees, and partners across North America and Canada. Collaborating with other Gordon Food Service interns and employees in the following areas:
- Communications
- Finance
- Accounting
- Human Resources
- IT
- Marketing & Merchandising
- Supply Chain
- Sales
Build a Career:
In the IT department by:
- Automation and Scripting: Write and maintain scripts using languages like Python or Bash to automate routine tasks, such as deployments and server provisioning.
- Infrastructure Management: Assist in managing our cloud infrastructure on platforms like GCP using Kubernetes. This includes helping with Kubernetes, virtual machine, container management using Docker.
- CI/CD Support: Work with our engineering teams to improve our CI/CD pipelines. You’ll help with building new stages, integrating security scanning tools, and ensuring our code gets from development to production efficiently.
- Monitoring and Maintenance: Help set up and manage monitoring and alerting systems to track the health and performance of our applications and infrastructure. Work with other team members to resolve any issues identified.
- Documentation: Create and update clear, concise documentation for our processes and tools, making it easier for the entire team to understand and follow best practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Meet the following qualifications to be considered for our 2027 internship program:
- Currently enrolled in a university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering Degree with Computer Specializations
- Must be authorized to work in the US.
- Must have a 3.0 GPA or higher

Does a Cloud Engineer role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the work is an integral part of your enrolled curriculum. Cloud engineering duties like designing distributed systems, managing containerized workloads, or building CI/CD pipelines map directly to computer science and information technology degree programs. Your DSO will need the job description to confirm the connection to your specific coursework before issuing CPT authorization on your I-20.
Can I do CPT part-time as a Cloud Engineer while attending classes?
Yes. Part-time CPT is 20 hours or fewer per week and doesn't affect your OPT eligibility regardless of how long you work. Full-time CPT, which is more than 20 hours per week, counts against OPT: 12 or more months of full-time CPT eliminates your OPT entirely. Cloud roles that allow remote or flexible scheduling often work well as part-time CPT arrangements during the academic term.
What documentation does my employer need for CPT hiring?
Your employer needs your CPT-authorized I-20, which lists the employer name, work site address, and exact start and end dates. The I-20 and your valid F-1 visa or entry stamp are the documents you present for I-9 verification. Some cloud employers also request a letter from your DSO confirming the role's academic relevance, especially if their HR team is new to CPT.
How do I find Cloud Engineer employers who are familiar with CPT?
Search on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers with documented work authorization filing history for cloud and infrastructure roles. Employers with active DOL Labor Condition Application records have already navigated F-1 work authorization before and are less likely to delay your start date over unfamiliarity with CPT procedures.
Does my Cloud Engineer CPT job need to be in-person, or can it be remote?
Remote CPT is permitted, but the employer's primary work site address must appear on your CPT-authorized I-20. If the role is fully remote, your DSO typically lists the employer's headquarters or the address where your direct supervisor is based. Confirm the exact address with your employer before submitting your CPT authorization request so your I-20 reflects the correct work location.
