CPT Group Product Manager Jobs
Group Product Manager roles qualify for CPT when your program curriculum includes product strategy, cross-functional leadership, or technology management coursework. Your DSO must authorize CPT before your start date, and the position must connect directly to your degree requirements, not just your career goals.

What You’ll Do:
You will be at the center of the hotel's universe—the front office. We need someone to be the face at our front desk. Are you happy, outgoing and wear a perma-smile? Do you want to create a warm and welcoming environment for our guests by sharing your knowledge of the area? Then this could be the job for you. In addition to generally spreading joy, you’ll be making sure all guests receive excellent service from check-in to check-out.
A lot goes into creating a perfect hotel stay, and you’ll play a huge role in this. We are looking to you to OWN the front desk area.
Here are a few of the other tasks that will keep you busy on a daily basis:
- Our fast-paced environment requires that you communicate clearly and demonstrate a high level of professionalism. You should be passionate about providing exceptional customer service and rolling with the punches.
- You will have excellent knowledge of the local happenings in the restaurants, entertainment, and sporting events and be eager to share this information with our guests.
- You'll know how to handle cash responsibly and reliably, and use the tools of the trade: computers, databases, and property management systems to efficiently handle the technical side of the job.
Where You’ve Been:
We’re looking for someone with a High School diploma (or equivalent) and preferably three to six months of related experience. But most importantly you must be a people-person! You will need to interact with all hotel guests and team members in a polite and positive manner at all times, fulfilling requests (even challenging ones) in a timely manner. If you don't work well under pressure, this won’t be a great fit.
When You’re Here:
Sometimes you’ll be behind the desk—but also be prepared to move around because more than half of the time you will be standing/sitting, carrying/lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending/twisting, climbing stairs and more. You also must be able to accommodate varying schedules including nights, weekends and holidays. But wait, there’s a great upside: in exchange for your flexibility, we offer excellent pay, hotel discounts, and the opportunity to be part of an anything-but-standard growing hotel company.
Group Product Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Group Product Manager internship qualify for CPT?
Yes, if the role is an integral part of your established curriculum and your school's DSO authorizes it before you start. GPM internships typically qualify when your program includes product management, technology strategy, or cross-functional leadership coursework. A generic business internship with no curricular connection does not qualify, regardless of the title.
Can I work as a Group Product Manager on CPT while enrolled full-time?
Yes, but the rules differ based on hours. Part-time CPT is under 20 hours per week and preserves your full OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT is 20 or more hours per week and is allowed, but using it for 12 or more months eliminates your OPT entirely. Coordinate your schedule with your DSO before accepting an offer to avoid that tradeoff.
How do I find employers who understand CPT for product management roles?
Search Migrate Mate for Group Product Manager positions at companies with active sponsorship history. Employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications for product roles are already familiar with F-1 work authorization and are less likely to withdraw offers because of CPT-related questions during onboarding.
Will CPT for a GPM role count toward future H-1B sponsorship eligibility?
CPT itself doesn't disqualify you from H-1B sponsorship, but the role must meet specialty occupation requirements for a future H-1B petition. Group Product Manager positions generally qualify since they require a specific bachelor's degree, but your employer's HR team will need to confirm the job duties align with specialty occupation criteria before filing.
What documentation does an employer need from me for CPT authorization?
Your employer needs very little directly from you at the CPT stage. The authorization happens through your school, not USCIS. You'll need to provide your employer's name, address, start date, and number of hours per week to your DSO, who then issues an updated I-20 with CPT authorized. Share that I-20 with HR to complete the I-9 before your first day.
