Get Access To All JobsGuest Service Attendant CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Guest Service Attendant role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if your degree program includes coursework in hospitality management, event services, facilities operations, or customer experience, a Guest Service Attendant role can qualify. Your DSO must verify that the specific duties in the job description connect directly to your curriculum. A generic offer letter without a detailed job description is typically insufficient for CPT approval.
Can I do CPT as a Guest Service Attendant at a hotel or event venue?
Hotels, convention centers, airports, and event venues are common CPT employers for this role. The key is whether the employer can provide a written description of duties that maps to your coursework, not just a job title. Ask for a detailed offer letter that lists specific responsibilities so your DSO can authorize the CPT properly.
How do I find Guest Service Attendant jobs that accept F-1 CPT students?
Migrate Mate surfaces Guest Service Attendant listings from employers with F-1 work authorization history, so you're not applying blind to employers unfamiliar with CPT documentation. Targeting employers who have previously hired international students significantly reduces the back-and-forth at the offer stage when you need to explain your authorization requirements to HR.
What documents do I need to start a CPT Guest Service Attendant job?
You need an updated I-20 with CPT authorization listed, your F-1 visa, your passport, and a Social Security Number if you don't already have one. Your employer will run an I-9 verification at onboarding. Bring your CPT-endorsed I-20 and your employment authorization documents on day one, not copies. USCIS requires original documents for I-9 completion.
Does full-time CPT as a Guest Service Attendant affect my OPT eligibility?
Yes. Completing 12 months or more of full-time CPT eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. Many Guest Service Attendant CPT roles are offered as full-time summer positions, which count toward that threshold. Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, doesn't count against OPT regardless of duration. Confirm your intended hours with your DSO before accepting a full-time offer.
