Get Access To All JobsIntegration Architect CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Integration Architect work qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your program of study covers enterprise systems, software architecture, or information technology and the role connects to a specific course or degree requirement. Your DSO will review the job description against your curriculum. Roles focused on API strategy, middleware design, or systems integration typically satisfy the integral curriculum requirement for computer science and information systems programs.
Can I do part-time CPT as an Integration Architect while finishing coursework?
Part-time CPT, defined by USCIS as fewer than 20 hours per week, doesn't affect your OPT eligibility regardless of how many semesters you use it. Full-time CPT of 12 or more months eliminates OPT eligibility entirely. Most Integration Architect CPT roles are structured as full-time summer engagements or part-time placements during the academic year, so confirm the hours in your offer letter before your DSO authorizes the position.
How do I find employers who understand CPT for technical architecture roles?
Migrate Mate lets you filter for employers who have previously hired F-1 students, which is the fastest way to identify companies familiar with CPT onboarding for specialized roles like Integration Architect. Companies already experienced with F-1 work authorization are less likely to withdraw offers due to CPT-related administrative questions or delays.
Does each new CPT job require a separate DSO authorization?
Yes. CPT authorization is employer-specific and tied to a specific job description. If you switch employers mid-semester or take a new Integration Architect role after a prior CPT placement, your DSO must issue a new I-20 with updated CPT authorization before you start. Carrying over an old CPT authorization to a new employer is a status violation, even if the role is similar.
What should the CPT job description include for an Integration Architect role?
The description should specify the integration platforms you'll work with, the systems or domains in scope, your reporting structure, and how the work connects to your academic program. Vague descriptions like 'software development support' create DSO authorization delays. Integration-specific language referencing API management, service-oriented architecture, or enterprise data flows gives your DSO the curriculum connection needed to approve CPT quickly.
