About the Role.
This internship is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience in platform engineering while delivering meaningful improvements to internal developer tooling, deployment processes, and automation practices.
The intern will work on a project within the IT Infrastructure and Integration area, with a focus on improving engineering efficiency, standardization, and operational maturity. The work will expose the intern to modern cloud and DevOps practices in an AWS-based environment and provide experience contributing to real business-critical systems.
What You’ll Do.
-
Integration Middleware Deployment Promotion Standardization: The intern will help standardize the process for promoting integration middleware code across environments (development, QA, and production) by introducing automated API validation. This includes running Postman collections as part of the DevOps pipeline to ensure consistency and reliability during deployments.
-
Automated Repository Documentation: The intern may work on improving documentation consistency across repositories by defining documentation standards, creating reusable templates, and building GitHub Actions to automatically generate or maintain repository documentation as part of CI pipelines.
-
Technical Debt Reduction and Platform Templates: The intern may contribute to reducing technical debt by maintaining the API inventory in LeanIX, developing new templates for building AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK, creating reusable templates for AWS Step Functions and event-driven integrations (API Gateway → EventBridge → Lambda).
What You'll Need.
- Basic proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or Node.js.
- Familiarity with agentic workflows, AI/LLM tools, or related automation concepts is preferred.
- Exposure to AWS cloud services and cloud-native development practices is a plus, but not required.
Meet the Leadership Team:
- Jenny Wadkins, Senior Cloud Engineer
- Banu Pradeep, Director, Head of Integration Architecture
The base rate for this role is $30/hour. This is a part-time summer internship running approximately eight to twelve weeks, subject to business needs. The ideal candidate will be expected to work up to 20-30 hours/week.

Get Access To All JobsPlatform Architect CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Platform Architect role qualify for CPT authorization?
CPT eligibility depends on whether the work is an integral part of your curriculum, not the job title itself. A Platform Architect role typically qualifies for students in computer science, information systems, or software engineering programs when the duties, such as designing cloud infrastructure, managing CI/CD pipelines, or leading systems integration, connect directly to courses in your degree plan. Your DSO makes the final determination.
Can I work full-time as a Platform Architect on CPT?
Yes, but twelve or more months of full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, eliminates your post-completion OPT eligibility entirely. Most Platform Architect internships and co-ops run full-time. If you plan to use OPT after graduation, track your cumulative full-time CPT hours carefully and discuss the tradeoff with your DSO before accepting a full-time offer.
What job duties should a Platform Architect CPT offer letter describe?
Your DSO needs the offer letter to connect specific duties to your coursework. Useful language includes designing scalable cloud platforms, defining infrastructure-as-code standards, overseeing API gateway architecture, or leading cross-functional systems design reviews. Generic phrases like 'software engineering tasks' won't satisfy most DSO requirements. Ask the employer's HR team to tailor the duty description to your actual project scope.
How do I find Platform Architect roles where employers already understand CPT?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with documented work authorization filing history, so you can focus on companies that have already navigated F-1 employment before. When you browse Platform Architect listings there, look for mid-size technology companies with established engineering organizations, since they're more likely to have HR processes that accommodate CPT documentation requirements and DSO authorization timelines.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the Platform Architect role changes scope after I start?
CPT authorization is tied to the specific role and employer described in your I-20 at the time of authorization. If your duties shift significantly, for example moving from backend infrastructure work to a product management function, you may need a new CPT authorization from your DSO before continuing. Notify your DSO promptly and get a revised offer letter reflecting the updated responsibilities.
