CPT Marketing Assistant Jobs
Marketing Assistant jobs give F-1 students a direct path to CPT authorization when the role connects to a degree in marketing, communications, or business. Your DSO must confirm the position is an integral part of your curriculum before you start, and the job description should map to specific coursework or program requirements.

Get Access To All JobsMarketing Assistant CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Assistant role qualify for CPT authorization?
It can, but your DSO makes the final call based on whether the specific duties connect to your degree program. A role focused on social media analytics, campaign reporting, or market research maps clearly to marketing and communications curricula. A general administrative assistant role with incidental marketing tasks typically doesn't meet the integral-curriculum standard CPT requires.
Can I do CPT for a Marketing Assistant job at a startup with no prior F-1 hiring experience?
Yes. CPT authorization depends on your school's approval, not the employer's immigration history. The employer doesn't file anything with USCIS for CPT. That said, startups without F-1 experience sometimes struggle with I-9 completion for CPT students, so walk HR through the process: your EAD-equivalent is the updated I-20 with CPT dates, not a separate card.
How do I find Marketing Assistant jobs where employers are comfortable with CPT?
Search on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers with documented F-1 authorization history. Companies that have previously hired OPT or STEM OPT students for marketing roles are generally familiar with employment authorization documentation and less likely to mishandle your I-9 or delay onboarding while they research CPT compliance internally.
Does full-time CPT for a Marketing Assistant job affect my OPT eligibility?
Full-time CPT totaling 12 or more months eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely, as defined by USCIS regulations. Part-time CPT, regardless of total duration, doesn't affect OPT. If you're planning to use OPT after graduation, track your CPT hours carefully and discuss a part-time schedule with your DSO if the cumulative full-time total approaches 12 months.
What documents does a Marketing Assistant employer need from me for CPT?
Your employer needs your updated I-20 showing the CPT authorization with the employer name, start date, end date, and part-time or full-time designation. They'll use this for I-9 Section 2 along with your valid passport. Some HR teams also ask for your I-94 record to confirm your current F-1 status. No separate EAD card is issued for CPT.
