Does a Marketing Operations Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if your academic program includes coursework in marketing analytics, CRM systems, campaign management, or related areas and your DSO confirms the role is an integral part of your curriculum. Roles focused on data-driven campaign execution, marketing technology stack management, or cross-channel attribution analysis map well to graduate marketing and business programs. Bring the job description to your DSO meeting with specific course connections highlighted.
Can I do part-time CPT as a Marketing Operations Manager while still in school?
Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week by SEVP, keeps your full-time student status intact and doesn't affect your OPT eligibility later. Many marketing operations roles support part-time arrangements for project-based work in campaign analytics or automation setup. Confirm the schedule in writing with your employer before your DSO issues the updated I-20, since the authorized hours are tied to the specific authorization period.
How do I find Marketing Operations Manager employers who understand CPT work authorization?
Search Migrate Mate for Marketing Operations Manager roles filtered by employers with sponsorship history. Employers who have previously filed Labor Condition Applications or sponsored H-1B visa workers typically have HR teams familiar with work authorization paperwork, which means fewer delays and less explaining when you present your CPT I-20. Mid-size technology, e-commerce, and SaaS companies are common employers for this role type.
What happens to my CPT authorization if my Marketing Operations Manager role changes scope during the internship?
If your responsibilities shift significantly, for example moving from campaign analytics into a primarily sales-support function, your DSO needs to assess whether the new scope still qualifies as curriculum-integral. Contact your DSO immediately if your role description changes, rather than waiting until your authorization period ends. An unauthorized material change in employment could affect your F-1 status even if your I-20 CPT dates are still valid.
Does full-time CPT affect my OPT eligibility after graduation?
Twelve months or more of full-time CPT, authorized at 20 or more hours per week, eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely under SEVP regulations. If you're planning to work full-time as a Marketing Operations Manager through CPT, count your authorized full-time months carefully. Part-time CPT of any duration doesn't affect OPT eligibility, so structuring a longer engagement as part-time can preserve your post-graduation work authorization options.
