CPT Office Secretary Jobs
Office Secretary roles on CPT must connect directly to your academic program, whether that's business administration, office management, or communications. Your DSO authorizes each CPT placement individually, so you'll need employer documentation showing how the role integrates with your coursework before you can start.

Get Access To All JobsOffice Secretary CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Office Secretary role qualify for CPT?
It can, but only if the role directly integrates with your academic program. Business administration, office management, and communications students have the strongest case. Your DSO evaluates the specific duties listed in your offer letter against your curriculum, so a vague title alone isn't enough. The employer's written description of tasks like scheduling, correspondence, and records management is what drives the authorization decision.
Can I work full-time as an Office Secretary on CPT?
Yes, CPT can be authorized for full-time hours, but doing so for 12 or more months eliminates your OPT eligibility after graduation. Many F-1 students in administrative roles choose part-time CPT precisely to preserve OPT. Talk through your post-graduation plans with your DSO before accepting a full-time offer so you understand the trade-off before it's locked in.
How do I find Office Secretary employers who are open to CPT students?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with demonstrated experience hiring F-1 students in administrative and office support roles. Filtering by role type and work authorization history lets you focus outreach on employers who've navigated CPT before, which shortens the conversation about your status significantly and reduces the chance an unfamiliar HR team declines on procedural grounds.
What documentation does my employer need to support my CPT authorization?
Your employer needs to provide a formal offer letter stating your job title, start and end dates, hours per week, work location, and a description of specific duties. Your DSO uses this to evaluate whether the role is an integral part of your curriculum. Generic offer letters that only list a title frequently cause delays or denials at the authorization stage.
Does my Office Secretary CPT employer need to file anything with USCIS?
No. CPT is authorized entirely through your school, not through USCIS. Your DSO updates your I-20 to reflect the approved CPT placement, and that updated I-20 along with your F-1 visa is what authorizes you to work. The employer doesn't file a petition or pay any government fees, which makes CPT significantly simpler for employers than H-1B or other employer-sponsored options.
