This position will involve performing research and collecting data to assist in the identification and implementation of process improvement opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist Sheet Metal Department team members with various projects and tasks as needed.
- Assist in the identification, justification, and implementation of production process improvements.
- Assist department with data entry, analysis, and reporting to help management make informed decisions.
- Assist in developing plant layout proposals using 2D CAD software and coordinate the movement and installation of machinery and equipment.
- Design custom equipment and fixtures using 2D or 3D CAD software.
- Submit drawing modification requests as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Pays close attention to detail.
- Strong time management, prioritization, multi-tasking, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Positive, collaborative, and open-minded attitude.
- Self-motivated, responsible, and ambitious.
- Ability to apply good judgment and make decisions independently.
- Effective professional communication skills both written and verbal.
- Can represent themselves, the department, and the company in a professional manner at all times.
- Ability to work well and effectively communicate with team members.
The duration of this co-op is January to August. Hours are 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday through Friday.

Do all Operations roles qualify for CPT authorization?
Not automatically. CPT requires the work to be an integral part of your curriculum, so your DSO evaluates each role individually. A supply chain analyst position tied to a logistics management course typically qualifies. A general administrative operations role with no clear curricular link may not. The job duties in your offer letter, not just the title, determine eligibility.
Can I do full-time CPT in an Operations role without losing OPT eligibility?
Full-time CPT for 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. If you're planning to use OPT after graduation, keep any full-time CPT under 12 cumulative months. Part-time CPT, under 20 hours per week, doesn't count toward that limit regardless of duration, so structure your operations internship accordingly if OPT matters to your post-graduation plan.
What documentation does an Operations employer need from me for CPT?
Your employer needs a copy of your updated I-20 showing CPT authorization for the specific employer, start date, and end date. Some operations employers, particularly those with HR compliance teams, also request your SEVIS ID and a letter from your DSO confirming enrollment status. E-Verify enrolled employers will run an I-9 verification on day one, your I-20 and passport satisfy that requirement.
How do I find Operations employers who are comfortable hiring CPT students?
Employers with a history of filing Labor Condition Applications through DOL are generally more experienced with work authorization processes and more likely to understand CPT. Can I switch Operations employers mid-semester while on CPT?
No. CPT authorization is employer-specific and tied to the exact employer name on your I-20. If you switch employers, your current CPT authorization becomes invalid immediately, and you must apply for a new CPT authorization from your DSO before starting with the new company. Working for an unapproved employer, even briefly, is unauthorized employment and carries serious immigration consequences.
