Does a pharmaceutical internship automatically qualify for CPT?

No. CPT authorization requires your DSO to determine that the specific role is an integral part of your established curriculum, not just related to your field. A pharmaceutical internship in, say, formulation chemistry qualifies only if your program requires or directly connects that experience to your coursework. Your DSO makes that call on a role-by-role basis.

Can I do full-time CPT at a pharma company without affecting my OPT eligibility?

Full-time CPT of 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. If you're considering a full-time pharmaceutical CPT role lasting a year or longer, plan your post-graduation work authorization strategy before accepting. Part-time CPT, meaning less than 20 hours per week, doesn't affect OPT eligibility regardless of duration.
