About the Team
The Security Engineering Watermark team is dedicated to building industry-leading watermark algorithms, services, and technologies, and to supporting cross-functional teams in protecting our users, products, and infrastructure. In today's AI-driven content generation landscape, watermarking has become a critical technology for addressing challenges such as insider risk, content provenance and authenticity, copyright protection, and large-language model (LLM) safeguarding. In this team, you'll have a unique opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to the company's strategy on key security initiatives — particularly in building invisible watermark algorithms for AI-generated content (AIGC) and LLM models. You will also have the chance to experience the full lifecycle of security products and services, and are encouraged to participate in solving real-world problems across TikTok/ByteDance products at scale. As a project intern, you will have the opportunity to engage in impactful short-term projects that provide you with a glimpse of professional real-world experience. You will gain practical skills through on-the-job learning in a fast-paced work environment and develop a deeper understanding of your career interests. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis - we encourage you to apply early. Successful candidates must be able to commit to at least 3 months long internship period.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the team to design and develop new invisible watermark algorithms that effectively balance high robustness, high visual quality, and tamper resistance.
- Explore security solutions in the AIGC era, building industry-leading capabilities for protecting LLM copyrights and tracing the provenance of AIGC.
- Partner with mentors on rapid exploration sprints: frame hypotheses, design experiments, run evaluations, and iterate quickly from concept to proof-of-concept to early productization on frontier challenges.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams — including product, platform, and research — to understand real-world requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.

- Proven skills with one or more of the following: OpenCV-based image processing, signal processing, or deep learning techniques relevant to invisible watermarking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven experience in invisible watermark development for images, video, or audio.
- Proven experience with AIGC watermarking or LLM model watermarking is a strong plus.
- Proactive, optimistic mindset with a strong sense of responsibility and excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Proven skills in communication and a collaborative team spirit.

Security Project Manager CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Security Project Manager role qualify for CPT authorization?
Yes, if the position is an integral part of your curriculum and your DSO approves it. Roles in security project management typically align with degrees in information systems, cybersecurity, business administration, or engineering management. Your DSO will evaluate the job description against your enrolled coursework, so a detailed offer letter describing day-to-day responsibilities strengthens your case.
How do I find Security Project Manager employers experienced with F-1 work authorization?
Search Migrate Mate for Security Project Manager openings to identify employers who have a track record of hiring internationally. Prioritizing companies with prior sponsorship experience reduces the risk of losing an offer because the HR team is unfamiliar with CPT paperwork requirements.
Can I use CPT for a Security Project Manager internship and still keep my OPT eligibility?
You can, as long as your full-time CPT usage stays under 12 months in aggregate. Part-time CPT, defined as fewer than 20 hours per week, does not count against your OPT eligibility regardless of duration. Track your authorized periods carefully on your I-20 history and confirm totals with your DSO before accepting any position.
What credentials strengthen a Security Project Manager CPT application?
Project management frameworks like PMP or Agile certifications, combined with coursework in risk assessment or information security, directly support CPT authorization for this role. Your DSO is more likely to approve the position quickly when your academic record includes courses in security governance, IT project delivery, or systems analysis that map to the job description.
What happens to my CPT authorization if the employer changes my job duties after I start?
CPT authorization is specific to the position and employer described on your I-20. If the role shifts significantly, for example from security operations support to general IT management, you must notify your DSO immediately. A material change in duties may require a new CPT authorization before you can legally continue working, and proceeding without updated authorization puts your F-1 status at risk.
