CPT Senior Web Engineer Jobs
Senior Web Engineer roles qualify for CPT when the position directly integrates with your degree program in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Your DSO must authorize each CPT employer separately, and full-time CPT exceeding 12 months affects OPT eligibility, so plan your timeline carefully.

Get Access To All JobsSenior Web Engineer CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Web Engineer role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if your school's curriculum requires or offers credit for the practical training and the role directly relates to your field of study. A Senior Web Engineer position within a computer science, software engineering, or information systems program typically meets this standard. Your DSO makes the final eligibility determination based on your specific program requirements.
Can I do full-time CPT as a Senior Web Engineer while enrolled?
Yes, but full-time CPT, defined as 20 or more hours per week, counts against your OPT eligibility. Twelve months of full-time CPT eliminates your post-graduation OPT entirely. Part-time CPT, under 20 hours per week, doesn't affect OPT. Weigh that trade-off carefully before accepting a full-time Senior Web Engineer CPT role.
How do I find Senior Web Engineer roles open to CPT students?
Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with a track record of hiring F-1 students in engineering roles. Prioritize companies enrolled in E-Verify and those with existing H-1B or OPT filing history, since they've already built internal HR processes for F-1 work authorization and are less likely to withdraw offers when CPT paperwork is involved.
What does my employer need to do to support my CPT?
Your employer doesn't file anything with USCIS or DOL for CPT. The authorization process is entirely between you and your school. Your employer needs to provide a formal offer letter describing the role, start date, and hours so your DSO can verify the position qualifies as integral to your academic program and issue the updated I-20.
Can I use O*NET to describe my Senior Web Engineer duties for CPT purposes?
Yes. The O*NET profile for software developers and web developers lists standardized task and skill descriptions that align with Senior Web Engineer responsibilities. Referencing O*NET task language in your CPT application helps your DSO confirm the role maps to your program's learning objectives, which is typically a required part of the authorization process.
