Does a Supply Chain Lead role qualify for CPT?
Yes, if the role directly integrates with your degree program's curriculum. For supply chain management, logistics, or business students, a Supply Chain Lead position typically qualifies because it applies coursework in procurement, operations, and vendor management. Your DSO makes the final determination, so bring your offer letter and a written explanation of how the duties connect to your program.
Can I work as a Supply Chain Lead on part-time CPT?
Part-time CPT is authorized for 20 hours per week or fewer and does not affect your OPT eligibility. Full-time CPT, which covers more than 20 hours per week, used for 12 months or more eliminates your OPT eligibility entirely. For a Supply Chain Lead role with project leadership responsibilities, confirm with your DSO whether the employer's expected hours fall under the part-time threshold.
How do I find Supply Chain Lead jobs that accept CPT students?
Search Migrate Mate to find Supply Chain Lead employers with a history of hiring F-1 students on CPT and other work authorizations. Many supply chain roles in manufacturing, retail, and logistics explicitly accommodate CPT, but that's rarely stated in the job posting, filtering by employer authorization history saves time and targets companies already familiar with the process.
What documents does my employer need to verify my CPT authorization?
Your employer needs your I-20 with the CPT authorization endorsed on page two, showing the specific employer name, authorized dates, and whether the authorization is part-time or full-time. The employer name on the I-20 must match the hiring entity exactly. Bring your passport and any additional identity documents required for I-9 verification on or before your first day.
Can a Supply Chain Lead CPT role lead to H-1B sponsorship after graduation?
CPT itself doesn't create a sponsorship obligation, but it does give you a pathway to demonstrate your value before the H-1B lottery. Supply chain management falls under specialty occupation for H-1B visa purposes when the role requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Employers who already understand your authorization background from CPT are often more willing to navigate sponsorship than employers hiring you for the first time.
