Get Access To All JobsLogistics Coordinator CPT: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Logistics Coordinator role qualify for CPT?
A Logistics Coordinator role qualifies for CPT if your school determines the work is an integral part of your established curriculum. Duties like supply chain analysis, carrier management, and inventory control typically align with business, supply chain management, or operations degree programs. Your DSO makes the final determination based on your specific program requirements and the employer's job description.
Can I work as a Logistics Coordinator on CPT before graduating?
Yes, CPT is specifically for pre-graduation work that's part of your curriculum. You can work as a Logistics Coordinator on CPT during any semester your school authorizes, including co-ops and internships. Your I-20 must reflect the CPT authorization with the correct employer name, start date, and end date before your first day of work.
How do I find Logistics Coordinator employers who are comfortable with CPT?
Search Migrate Mate to find employers with verified work authorization filing history in supply chain and operations roles. Companies that have filed LCAs for logistics positions are already familiar with the paperwork requirements. Ask directly during the interview whether the employer has onboarded F-1 students on CPT before and whether HR knows how to read an I-20 CPT authorization page.
Does full-time CPT as a Logistics Coordinator affect my OPT?
If you accumulate 12 months or more of full-time CPT across all employers, you lose your post-graduation OPT eligibility entirely. Part-time CPT, defined as 20 hours or fewer per week, doesn't count toward that threshold. Many F-1 students in multi-semester logistics co-op programs hit the 12-month limit without realizing it, so track your cumulative full-time CPT hours carefully.
What documents does a Logistics Coordinator employer need to hire me on CPT?
Your employer needs your valid I-20 with the CPT authorization section completed by your DSO, naming their specific organization and your exact employment dates. They'll also need your passport and visa, and must verify your work authorization through E-Verify or Form I-9. You cannot start work until your I-20 shows the CPT endorsement for that employer.
