Entry Level Critical Care Physician Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level critical care physician job?
Completing a fellowship in critical care medicine is the most direct path, as most entry level positions expect fellowship training rather than years of independent practice. Highlighting clinical rotations in ICU settings, demonstrating procedural competencies like mechanical ventilation and arterial line placement, and securing strong attending physician references all give new candidates a clear edge when competing for these roles.
Which companies hire entry level critical care physicians?
Companies hiring entry level critical care physicians right now include Sound Physicians, SSM Health, and Mayo Clinic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring tends to come from large health systems, academic medical centers, and hospital staffing groups that have the infrastructure to onboard and support physicians early in their independent practice.
Are there remote entry level critical care physician jobs?
Yes, though the majority of positions require on-site presence in ICU settings. About 2% of entry level critical care physician openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and these typically involve tele-critical care or telemedicine roles where physicians manage ICU patients remotely in collaboration with bedside nursing teams.
Are these new grad critical care physician jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior critical care physician roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes candidates completing or recently completing fellowship training, accepts zero to two years of post-fellowship experience, and treats strong ICU rotation performance or supervised procedural experience as equivalent to independent practice history.
Which industries hire the most entry level critical care physicians?
Entry Level critical care physician roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Science & Research, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they operate high-acuity inpatient units that require dedicated critical care coverage and regularly bring on fellowship graduates to fill attending and hospitalist-adjacent ICU roles.
