Data Analyst Intern Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data analyst intern in Massachusetts?
Most data analyst intern roles in Massachusetts require active enrollment in a bachelor's or master's program in a quantitative field such as statistics, data science, computer science, economics, or applied mathematics. Massachusetts does not require a state-issued license for data analyst work, so candidates build their case through coursework, a portfolio of analytical projects, and familiarity with tools like Python, SQL, and Tableau. Strong candidates in Massachusetts often come from programs at UMass, Northeastern, or Boston University.
Which companies hire data analyst interns in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts data analyst intern roles are posted by The Hanover Insurance, Raytheon, and State Street and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Massachusetts's deep concentration of biotech, financial services, and research institutions means internship postings appear across a wide range of industries beyond technology alone.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most data analyst intern jobs?
Worcester, Boston, and Woburn have the most data analyst intern openings in Massachusetts. Boston and Cambridge dominate because they anchor the state's financial services corridor, major research hospitals, and biotech cluster along Route 128, while Worcester draws openings from UMass Medical School and regional insurance and healthcare employers that are actively building out their analytics functions.
Are there remote data analyst intern jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most fields, since data analyst work is largely computer-based and does not require physical presence at a lab or job site. About 50% of data analyst intern openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers in finance, healthcare technology, and software have adopted flexible arrangements. The most consistently remote tasks include data cleaning, reporting, and dashboard development.
How can I get hired as a data analyst intern in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to formal internship programs run by large Massachusetts institutions, including the Fidelity Investments summer internship program, Mass General Brigham's data and analytics rotations, and Liberty Mutual's technology co-op program designed for students without prior industry experience. Candidates without experience gain an edge by building a public portfolio on GitHub using publicly available Massachusetts health or transportation datasets, and by completing a recognized certification in Python or SQL. Lateral moves from research assistant or lab coordinator roles at Boston-area universities are also a common on-ramp.
Where can I find and apply to data analyst intern jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to data analyst intern jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that fit your background, experience level, and preferred location or work arrangement, then apply directly to the ones that match.
