Data Analytics Engineer Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a data analytics engineer job in Philadelphia?
Focus your search on Philadelphia's healthcare networks, regional banks and insurers, and the growing life sciences corridor in University City, where demand for data pipeline and modeling expertise is highest. Candidates who combine strong SQL and dbt skills with experience in healthcare or financial data workflows have a clear edge locally. Networking through Philadelphia-area data meetups and targeting mid-size firms in Center City and the Navy Yard also surfaces roles that rarely appear on national boards.
Which companies hire data analytics engineers in Philadelphia?
Companies currently hiring data analytics engineers in Philadelphia include Deloitte, Kepler, and City of Philadelphia, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Philadelphia's employer mix leans heavily toward large health systems, regional financial institutions, and insurance carriers, alongside a growing number of tech-forward startups based in University City and Fishtown.
Are there remote data analytics engineer jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, data analytics engineering is well-suited to remote work given its desk-based, tool-driven nature. About 43% of data analytics engineer openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the broad shift toward flexible arrangements in analytical and engineering roles. Pipeline development, data modeling, and documentation tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remotely by Philadelphia-based teams.
How can I get a data analytics engineer job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is through a junior data analyst or business intelligence analyst role at one of the city's large health systems or financial services firms, which frequently hire for entry-level data positions and promote internally into engineering tracks. Building a portfolio with dbt projects and contributing to open-source pipelines strengthens applications considerably. Philadelphia-area bootcamps and Drexel or Temple continuing-education programs have direct relationships with local employers that hire early-career candidates.
