Research Analyst Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a research analyst in Pennsylvania?
Most research analyst positions in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as economics, public policy, statistics, or social science, and a graduate degree strengthens competitiveness for senior roles. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license specifically for research analysts, so hiring decisions center on education, demonstrated analytical skills, and domain expertise in the sector you are targeting, whether healthcare, finance, or government.
How much do research analysts make in Pennsylvania?
Research analysts in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $78,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $46,680 for the lowest 10% to over $134,710 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire research analysts in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring research analysts in Pennsylvania right now include UPMC, Penn State University, and Independence Blue Cross, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of major health systems, insurance carriers, and financial institutions means steady demand for researchers who can work with complex datasets in regulated industries.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most research analyst jobs?
The Pennsylvania cities with the most research analyst openings are Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Harrisburg. Philadelphia dominates due to its dense cluster of health systems, universities, and financial services firms, while Pittsburgh draws demand from healthcare networks and technology companies that have expanded there, and smaller markets reflect the presence of regional employers and state government offices.
Are there remote research analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. Research analyst work is largely desk-based and data-driven, which makes it well suited to remote or hybrid arrangements. About 90% of research analyst openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers in this field have adopted flexible work. Roles focused on secondary data analysis, literature review, and report writing are the most likely to be fully remote.
How can I get hired as a research analyst in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for a research assistant or junior analyst role at one of Pennsylvania's large health systems, insurers, or policy organizations, where entry-level teams actively hire new graduates. Penn Medicine, UPMC, and state agencies such as the Pennsylvania Department of Health run programs that onboard analysts without professional experience. Building a portfolio of independent projects using publicly available Pennsylvania datasets, or earning a certification in a tool like Excel, SQL, or Tableau, gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for those openings.
Where can I find and apply to research analyst jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to research analyst jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Pennsylvania employers. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to each one.
