Data Center Design Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data center design in New Hampshire?
Most data center design roles in New Hampshire require a bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering followed by a Professional Engineer license through the New Hampshire Board of Professional Engineers, which administers the NCEES PE exam. Candidates typically build foundational experience through roles in facilities engineering, MEP consulting, or critical systems contracting before moving into dedicated data center design positions at technology firms or engineering consultancies based in Manchester or Nashua.
How much do data center designs make in New Hampshire?
Data center designs in New Hampshire earn a median of about $101,100 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $63,200 for the lowest 10% to over $133,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data center designs in New Hampshire?
Companies currently hiring data center designs in New Hampshire include BAE Systems USA, Amphenol, and Celestica, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Hampshire's mix of financial services headquarters, healthcare networks, and regional telecommunications providers creates consistent demand for in-house and contract data center design talent across the southern tier of the state.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most data center design jobs?
Nashua, Exeter, and Merrimack have the most data center design openings in New Hampshire. Manchester and Nashua anchor most of the demand as the state's largest commercial centers, home to corporate headquarters, major hospital systems, and colocation facilities, while Concord draws openings from state government IT infrastructure and regional financial institutions headquartered in the capital area.
Are there remote data center design jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, but they're rare. About 26% of data center design openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on nature of the work. The portions of the role most likely to be performed remotely are schematic design, CAD drafting, and specification writing, while site assessments, commissioning, and construction administration almost always require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a data center design in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a junior or associate engineer role at an MEP consulting firm in Manchester or Nashua, where firms often hire new graduates and assign them to data center projects under licensed senior engineers. Building a portfolio of AutoCAD or Revit samples, earning a CDCP or CDCS credential from the Data Center Dynamics Foundation, or completing an internship with a New Hampshire colocation operator can all strengthen an early-career application significantly.
