Data Center Jobs in Wyoming: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a data center technician in Wyoming?
Most Wyoming data center employers look for candidates with an associate degree or technical diploma in information technology or computer networking, combined with vendor-neutral certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or a Data Center Certified Associate credential. Wyoming has no state-issued license specific to data center work, so certifications and hands-on lab experience carry the most weight. Entry-level candidates often start in IT support or facilities roles and move into data center operations as they gain floor experience.
Which companies hire data centers in Wyoming?
Companies currently hiring data centers in Wyoming include Salute Mission, Microsoft, and EOS IT Solutions, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Wyoming's low electricity costs and tax-friendly climate have drawn major cloud and colocation operators alongside long-standing state government and university IT departments.
Which Wyoming cities have the most data center jobs?
Cheyenne account for the largest concentration of data center openings in Wyoming. Cheyenne leads because it hosts the bulk of state government IT infrastructure and has attracted cloud operators drawn by its fiber connectivity and power grid access, while Casper and Laramie follow due to regional enterprise operations and the University of Wyoming's research computing needs.
How can I get hired as a data center technician in Wyoming with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for an IT support or help desk role with Wyoming state agencies or the University of Wyoming, both of which run internal training programs and promote from within into infrastructure and data center positions. Candidates who complete a technical program at Laramie County Community College or Casper College and earn a CompTIA A+ certification before applying have a clear edge. Starting as a facilities or cabling technician at a colocation site is another common lateral move.
Where can I find and apply to data center jobs in Wyoming?
