Entry Level Data Integration Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level data integration engineer job?
Build hands-on experience with ETL tools, SQL, and at least one cloud platform like AWS or Azure, since these appear consistently in entry level job postings. A portfolio project that demonstrates a working data pipeline from ingestion to transformation carries real weight at this stage. Internship experience in data engineering or a related field also gives you a concrete edge over candidates with coursework alone.
Which companies hire entry level data integration engineers?
Companies hiring entry level data integration engineers right now include GEICO, Fipsar, and Capital One, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Hiring at this level covers large technology firms, financial services companies, healthcare organizations, and consulting teams that build and maintain data infrastructure for enterprise clients.
Are there remote entry level data integration engineer jobs?
Yes, though remote availability varies by employer and project type. About 50% of entry level data integration engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, so a meaningful share of roles do offer location flexibility even at the junior stage. On-site roles remain common where teams collaborate closely on pipeline architecture or system integrations.
Are these new grad data integration engineer jobs?
Yes, many of these openings are new grad and junior roles that welcome recent graduates with zero to two years of experience. A new grad friendly posting typically accepts internship work, academic projects, or a portfolio in place of full-time professional experience. Look for language like "entry level," "recent graduates welcome," or "0 to 2 years" in the job description as clear signals the employer is open to candidates early in their career.
Which industries hire the most entry level data integration engineers?
Entry Level data integration engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Education, and Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they manage large, complex data ecosystems that require engineers who can build and maintain the pipelines connecting upstream sources to downstream analytics and reporting systems.
