Dentist Jobs in Missouri: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a dentist in Missouri?
To become a dentist in Missouri, you must earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery or Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from an accredited dental school, pass the National Board Dental Examinations, and pass a clinical board examination accepted by the Missouri Dental Board. You then apply for licensure through the Missouri Dental Board, which oversees credentialing and issues the active license required to practice in the state.
How much do dentists make in Missouri?
Dentists in Missouri earn a median of about $204,960 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $95,610 for the lowest 10% to over $427,970 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire dentists in Missouri?
Employers hiring dentists in Missouri right now include Heartland Dental, 360Care, and PDS Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Missouri's mix of dental service organizations, federally qualified health centers, and independent private practices means hiring is spread across both major metros and smaller rural communities statewide.
Which Missouri cities have the most dentist jobs?
St. Louis, Branson, and Columbia account for the most dentist openings in Missouri, driven by the concentration of dental service organizations, hospital-affiliated dental departments, and large private group practices in Kansas City and St. Louis, while Springfield serves as the primary regional hub for southwest Missouri's growing population.
Are there remote dentist jobs in Missouri?
Yes, but they're rare. About 22% of dentist openings tied to Missouri are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting that most dental work requires in-person patient care. The portions of the role most compatible with remote work are administrative or consulting functions, such as teledentistry screenings or dental director advisory roles with community health organizations.
How can I get hired as a dentist in Missouri with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to associate dentist roles at dental service organizations, which routinely hire new graduates without requiring prior practice ownership experience. Heartland Dental and Aspen Dental both operate Missouri locations with structured new-graduate onboarding programs. Community health centers across Missouri, including federally qualified health centers in rural and underserved areas, also hire new-graduate dentists, often with loan repayment incentives. Completing a general practice residency at a Missouri hospital system strengthens your candidacy and is a recognized bridge from dental school to independent practice.
Where can I find and apply to dentist jobs in Missouri?
You can find and apply to dentist jobs in Missouri on Migrate Mate, which lists current Missouri openings across private practices, dental service organizations, and community health centers. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty and apply directly to the employers posting them.
