Bevi is on a mission to transform how beverages are delivered and consumed. Our connected beverage platform eliminates the need for single-use bottles and cans, making it easy, fun, and sustainable to stay hydrated. As the category leader in IoT-enabled beverage technology, we're building a future where Bevi machines are everywhere people live, work, and connect. We've raised over $160M in venture capital, serve thousands of customers across the US, Canada, UK and Ireland, and we've been rapidly growing year over year, saving over 1 billion bottles from waste. In addition to driving hypergrowth with our current product line, Bevi is heavily investing in new product development.
Bevi is looking for a Senior Director, Product & Experience Design to lead the team that shapes how our products look, feel, and work, from the Bevi machine that houses your favorite drinks, to the screen experience that turns your selections into your go-to pour.
We believe design isn't just how Bevi competes, it's how we win. The way our machines look and feel, and the way our interfaces guide someone through a choice, is often the difference between a drinker reaching for a plastic bottle or reaching for Bevi. This role owns that: you'll shape how the Bevi product shows up in the world - both in terms of physical industrial design and UI/UX design -and you'll have real influence over decisions that touch every product we ship. Everything you and your team do must have an incredibly close connection to our customers - they are your beacon in this role. Their needs/problems must be solved through a highly functional and beautifully designed set of products that bring our brand to life.
You'll own design across two disciplines: industrial design and UI/UX design. You'll manage the designers who bring both to life, and you'll be the person who makes sure a Bevi machine feels like Bevi whether someone is touching the hardware or our digital components (both outward facing and to our service partners, technicians, and internal teams). This is a craft and leadership role in equal measure. You'll set the product design vision and standards, and you'll manage a team that needs a strong creative leader and a strong people manager at the same time. You'll drive the team to find new ways to design and build. This role will partner closely with our Marketing and Brand Creative teams to ensure that our brand is brought to life cohesively.
This role reports to the VP of Product and sits on the extended product leadership team. It will operate in close partnership with Product Management, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and more. As Bevi's design function grows, there's room for this role to grow with it.
What You'll Own
Design Vision & Craft
- Define and maintain a coherent design language across Bevi's hardware and digital products, so the physical machine and the on-screen experience feel like they came from the same place.
- Set the bar for craft across industrial design and UI/UX, and be hands-on enough to raise it as well.
- Own CMF (color, material, finish) standards and decisions for hardware, in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Operations.
- Bring a strong point of view on where design should push Bevi's products forward, not just execute on what's asked. You should be comfortable not just engaging with Bevi's executive team, but guiding them through the lens of design principles.
The End-to-End Product Experience
- Own how every drinker, client, and partner experiences the Bevi product, from "the first look" through the choice, the pour, the taste, and the reason they come back. Everything they see, touch, taste, and feel should be unmistakably Bevi - and that shared essence is driven by you and your team.
- Treat user experience as the engine of product love. Great design drives repeat pours, advocacy, and in turn, a placement into a habit, and a habit into growth for Bevi.
- Design for the full journey Bevi takes folks on, from the drinkers who use our products, to the clients who place them, to the partners and technicians who service them. The experience should hold end to end.
Team Leadership
- Manage and grow a team of Industrial Designers and UI/UX Designers, giving each discipline what it needs to do great work while keeping both aligned to one vision.
- Coach designers on craft and career growth, and build a team that can scale with Bevi's product roadmap.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Product Management to translate roadmap priorities into design direction, and push back when a plan doesn't hold up design-wise.
- Work directly with Engineering to protect design integrity from concept through production, especially on hardware where tolerances and manufacturing realities meet the vision.
- Represent design in product strategy and planning conversations, making sure design is shaping and informing decisions early, not just polishing them at the end.
Systems & Scalability
- Build and maintain design systems that let the team move fast without losing consistency as Bevi's product line grows.
- Establish clear standards and processes for how design work gets reviewed, approved, and put into execution mode by designers and cross-functional partners
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years of design experience with 5+ years leading both physical/industrial design and digital/UI-UX design, ideally for connected hardware or consumer electronics products.
- Proven experience managing and growing a multidisciplinary design team.
- A portfolio that shows range across hardware and digital, with strong craft in both.
- Experience owning CMF decisions and working closely with engineering and manufacturing partners to bring designs to production.
- Comfortable setting vision and being in the details. This role needs both.
- Strong communicator who can hold their own with engineers on manufacturing constraints and with executives on brand and product vision.
- A track record of building or scaling design systems that keep a growing product line consistent.
- Bonus: a broad design sensibility beyond ID and UI/UX to help inform and drive how Bevi views design more holistically than just the physical and digital products themselves.

Design Director Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a design director job in Boston?
Focus on Boston's strongest hiring sectors: healthtech, biotech, financial services, and the city's active agency and consumer brand scene. The Seaport and Kendall Square corridors concentrate the most openings, while Back Bay holds many corporate and agency headquarters. Candidates who show cross-functional leadership, a portfolio that includes digital product work, and experience managing design systems tend to stand out in Boston's competitive market.
Which companies hire design directors in Boston?
Companies currently hiring design directors in Boston include Bevi, Chewy, and Corgan, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Boston's employer mix skews toward healthtech platforms, biotech firms, financial services companies, and mid-size consumer and SaaS brands, many of which run in-house design teams large enough to need dedicated director-level leadership.
Are there remote design director jobs in Boston?
Yes, though director-level design roles lean toward hybrid rather than fully remote, since stakeholder alignment and team management typically require some in-person presence. About 55% of design director openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with flexibility most common at SaaS and digital product companies headquartered in the Seaport and Kendall Square areas.
How can I get a design director job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving up from a senior designer or design lead role within a Boston healthtech, biotech, or agency environment, where organizations often promote from within. Look for principal designer or design manager openings at mid-size Seaport and Kendall Square companies as a stepping stone. Building a portfolio that demonstrates team leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and ownership of a full product design cycle gives local hiring managers a concrete reason to consider you.
Which industries hire the most design directors in Boston?
Most design director openings in Boston sit in Technology & Software, Construction & Real Estate, and Hospitality & Tourism, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Boston's concentration of teaching hospitals, life sciences firms, and venture-backed healthtech startups creates steady demand for design leaders who can translate complex clinical and scientific information into clear, user-centered digital experiences.
