Entry Level Developer Advocate Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level developer advocate job?
Entry level developer advocate roles reward candidates who can demonstrate both technical ability and communication skills. Building a public portfolio of demo projects, writing tutorials, or recording short technical explainers shows employers you can do the job before you have a formal title. Internship experience in developer relations, community management, or software engineering strengthens your application, and familiarity with APIs, SDKs, or a popular developer tool gives you a concrete edge at this stage.
Which companies hire entry level developer advocates?
Companies hiring entry level developer advocates right now include Ascension, Henry Ford Health, and Lifecare Home Health Family, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At this level, hiring comes from a mix of early-stage startups building developer communities for the first time and established technology companies running structured junior programs.
Are there remote entry level developer advocate jobs?
Yes, remote options exist at this level, though on-site and hybrid openings also compete for new candidates. About 39% of entry level developer advocate openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so candidates willing to consider flexible arrangements have a broader pool of roles to apply to across the country.
Are these new grad developer advocate jobs?
Yes, many of these listings are new grad and junior roles that explicitly welcome recent graduates with little or no professional experience. A new grad friendly posting typically asks for zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or open-source contributions in place of full-time history, and treats a strong portfolio as a genuine qualification. Searching for junior and recent graduate positions within this category surfaces the most accessible openings.
Which industries hire the most entry level developer advocates?
Entry Level developer advocate roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Technology & Software, and Government & Public Sector, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they rely on growing developer communities around new platforms, APIs, and tools, creating a steady need for communicators who can translate technical concepts for other builders.
