Development Manager Jobs in Philadelphia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a development manager job in Philadelphia?
Target Philadelphia's largest hiring sectors: academic medical centers, universities, nonprofit social services, and the expanding life sciences corridor. Jobs concentrate in University City, Center City, and the Navy Yard. Candidates who stand out here typically have demonstrated fundraising results in a mission-driven environment, existing relationships with regional philanthropic foundations, and experience with major gift cultivation or capital campaign management.
Which companies hire development managers in Philadelphia?
Employers hiring development managers in Philadelphia right now include Comcast, Provectus, and URBN, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Philadelphia's hiring mix skews heavily toward healthcare systems, research universities, and established nonprofits, with a growing share coming from life sciences organizations along the I-76 corridor.
Are there remote development manager jobs in Philadelphia?
Yes, though availability depends on role type. Development manager positions focused on major gifts and donor relationships tend to require regular in-person presence, while those centered on grants management or digital fundraising are more commonly remote-eligible. About 61% of development manager openings tied to Philadelphia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common at larger healthcare and university employers.
How can I get a development manager job in Philadelphia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Philadelphia is moving into a development manager role from a development associate or coordinator position at one of the city's many hospitals, colleges, or social service nonprofits. Penn Medicine, Jefferson Health, and Drexel University are among the types of institutions that actively promote from within. Volunteering with local foundations or regional giving programs also builds the donor-relations experience Philadelphia employers look for.

Most development manager openings in Philadelphia sit in Government & Public Sector, Transportation & Logistics, and Banking & Financial Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026.
