Business Development Manager – Machinery & Contract Manufacturing
ELSNER Engineering Works | Hanover, PA

ELSNER Engineering Works is seeking a Business Development Manager to grow sales across our machinery and contract manufacturing businesses. We’re looking for a hunter who understands our world, recognizes opportunities, and turns technical conversations into new business.

The right person will learn what ELSNER does best, understand how prospective customers operate, and connect our capabilities with their equipment and outsourced manufacturing needs. You should be comfortable talking with business owners, engineers, purchasing teams, and manufacturing leaders with proven track record of opening doors and closing deals.

What You’ll Do

• Proactively identify and pursue new customers for ELSNER machinery and contract manufacturing services.
• Build a strong pipeline through targeted outreach, prospecting, networking, referrals, and customer visits.
• Understand prospective customers’ manufacturing capabilities, capacity constraints, technical requirements, and business goals.
• Identify opportunities for customers to invest in machinery or outsource machining and manufacturing work to ELSNER.
• Develop a strong understanding of ELSNER’s equipment, machining capabilities, production processes, and ideal customer fit.
• Partner with engineering, estimating, and operations to assess opportunities and develop accurate, competitive proposals.
• Own the sales process from initial outreach and discovery through proposal follow-up, negotiation, and closing.
• Maintain clear pipeline records, sales forecasts, and next steps.
• Coordinate a thorough handoff of customer requirements and commitments to internal teams.

What We’re Looking For

• Demonstrated success winning new business in contract manufacturing, machining, industrial machinery, or a closely related field.
• A proactive hunter mentality and the discipline to consistently prospect and follow through.
• Working knowledge of machining processes, manufacturing operations, and technical requirements.
• Ability to discuss drawings, specifications, tolerances, materials, and production needs with customers and internal technical teams.
• Strong judgment about whether an opportunity aligns with the company’s capabilities, capacity, and commercial goals.
• Confidence building relationships with technical and business decision-makers.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel for customer visits and business development activities.

Experience selling both capital equipment and contract manufacturing services is a plus. Candidates with a machining or manufacturing background who have moved into successful sales careers are encouraged to apply.
