Digital Designer Jobs in Kansas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a digital designer in Kansas?
Digital designer roles in Kansas do not require a state-issued license or certification. Most employers hire candidates with a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field, combined with a strong portfolio. Kansas universities such as the University of Kansas and Wichita State University offer design programs that Kansas employers recognize. Certifications in UX design or Google's UX Design Certificate can strengthen a candidacy when a degree is absent.
How much do digital designers make in Kansas?
Digital designers in Kansas earn a median of about $53,630 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $37,440 for the lowest 10% to over $86,260 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire digital designers in Kansas?
Companies currently hiring digital designers in Kansas include Advisors Excel, Security Benefit, and Colgate-Palmolive, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Kansas's mix of healthcare technology firms, aviation manufacturers with large marketing departments, and regional financial institutions creates consistent demand for in-house design talent.
Which Kansas cities have the most digital designer jobs?
Overland Park, Wichita, and Lenexa have the most digital designer openings in Kansas. Overland Park and Kansas City draw the largest share of postings because of the dense concentration of corporate headquarters, marketing agencies, and technology firms in the Kansas City metro, while Wichita generates steady demand through its aerospace, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors.
Are there remote digital designer jobs in Kansas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 77% of digital designer openings tied to Kansas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Brand design, UX research, and campaign asset production are the functions most likely to be offered fully remote, while roles involving close collaboration with on-site product or marketing teams tend to require at least hybrid availability.
How can I get hired as a digital designer in Kansas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a focused portfolio through academic projects, freelance work, or pro bono design for local Kansas nonprofits and small businesses. Large Kansas employers like Garmin and regional healthcare systems such as the University of Kansas Health System occasionally post junior or associate designer roles suited to new graduates. A strong portfolio matters more than years on a resume, and completing a recognized UX or visual design certificate can help close the gap when competing against candidates with more experience.
Where can I find and apply to digital designer jobs in Kansas?
You can find and apply to digital designer jobs in Kansas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Kansas openings. Search the listings to find roles that match your skills and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
