Position Summary:
Lead the implementation of place-based partnerships across the region that are developing local solutions unique to communities. Lead efforts to convene, facilitate and sustain partnerships that advance United Way and community goals within defined geographic areas. Work with community-based organizations, United Way agencies, elected officials, and local leaders to effectively implement strategies that improve outcomes in priority areas. Manage staff implementing place-based partnerships across the region, and work to align all place-based partnerships into a regional impact strategy. Represent United Way at community events and relevant stakeholder meetings, and create opportunities for community and public engagement with the Bold Goals Coalition and United Way.
Responsibilities:
- Supports the successful implementation of place-based coalitions by ensuring partners are collaboratively pursuing goals and achieving results in priority issue areas.
- Provides ongoing support and guidance to help program partners successfully operate their programs and collect appropriate data to measure their impact.
- Utilizes program data to inform decision-making processes to ensure programs are meeting specific goals and addressing identified gaps in services.
- Manages staff working within each place-based partnership.
- Provides ongoing support to staff by developing annual action plans and regularly evaluating progress.
- Works with school and community leaders to regularly convene local Advisory Committees to provide guidance, direction and accountability for place-based partnerships.
- Builds community support and alignment around UWCA’s Strategic Plan goals.
- Engages UWCA agencies and community partners in joining place-based efforts.
- Communicates place-based partnership activities to individuals, organizations and the general public through various communications channels, including annual impact reports and marketing materials.
- Serves as primary UWCA liaison to school staff, including principals and assistant principals.
- Supports place-based partnership leaders and actively engages general partnership members.
- Works with evaluation partners to assess current conditions, monitor outcomes and ensure partnership activities achieve measurable results.
- Identifies sustainability strategies to financially support place-based partnerships into the future.
- Manages relationships with a portfolio of place-based partners working in defined geographic areas.
- Participates in United Way’s fundraising activities as appropriate.
- Supports the United Way’s annual allocations process.
- Performs other duties and projects, as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Skills:
- Successful experience in group facilitation, volunteer management and community problem solving.
- Experience working or volunteering in a coalition-building, community engagement or educational setting.
- Experience managing and directing a team.
- Willingness to continually grow and develop knowledge of local organizations and potential partnerships.
- Proficiency in Fluxx Grant Management System.
- Eagerness to learn about and grow community knowledge of United Way and partner agencies.
- Ability to organize and supervise collaborative efforts involving multiple volunteers, companies, and donors.
- Ability to motivate self and others.
- Strong professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be able to demonstrate competency in word processing and Power Point applications, and a working knowledge of excel and database management.
Education:
Master’s degree required, with a focus in Education, Public Administration or Social Work preferred.
Experience:
Experience in community engagement, volunteer management, marketing or project management preferred. Management experience preferred.
Required:
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of automobile insurance.
Working Conditions:
Normal office work environment in accordance with health and safety guidelines related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Some travel and occasional overtime required.
