Position Summary
The Discount Strategy Team oversees the strategy, planning, execution, and optimization of all discount strategies to drive profitable growth and consumer engagement. This team works closely with internal partners such as Merchandising, Pricing, Digital, and Marketing leadership to develop best-in-class promotional strategies across all vehicles. The Sr. Manager is responsible for analyzing discount strategies to create clear, compelling, profitable promotions across the business, which includes organizing and prioritizing key areas of focus to facilities efficient decision making. The team uses deep category and consumer knowledge to analyze market trends and dynamics, develop promotional events that drive consumer engagement, analyze and optimize promotional effectiveness, understand vendor/brand economics and productivities, drive customer loyalty and related optimization opportunities across various levers.
The Senior Manager, Discount Strategy is charged with developing and driving a portfolio of profitable growth initiatives in partnership with Category Managers and Price Value Strategy leadership. The Senior Managers oversee the budget and project execution plan for multiple initiatives. The Senior Manager will report to the Promo Strategy Director.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience leading strategic/commercial projects with significant business impact
- 5+ years working in consulting, retail, or equivalent experience
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver on multiple concurrent initiatives that have significant financial impact.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to synthesize facts and insights into concrete, actionable strategies, and tactical plans.
- Excellent communicator, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Merchandising familiarity - understanding of retail merchandising basics (i.e., Category Management), and merchandising organizational structures and processes
- Demonstrated ability to manage a P&L
- Retail/CPG experience and/or experience analyzing large customer / transaction data sets
- Mastery of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience using Tableau, SQL, Power BI and other technical tools a plus
- Ability to concisely present to senior leaders and build trust
Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; MBA/Master’s strongly preferred
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$82,940.00 - $182,549.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
