Rhode Island does not require a state-issued license specific to this role, but employers in Providence's financial and healthcare corridors consistently favor candidates holding the RIMS-CRMP, FRM, or a Certified Risk Manager credential from the National Alliance.
How much do risk management leads make in Rhode Island?
Risk management leads in Rhode Island earn a median of about $104,470 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,290 for the lowest 10% to over $186,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire risk management leads in Rhode Island?
Companies currently hiring risk management leads in Rhode Island include Citizens, CVS Health, and FM, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Rhode Island's concentration of insurance carriers, regional banks, and large healthcare systems makes it one of the more consistent markets for senior risk roles in New England.
Which Rhode Island cities have the most risk management lead jobs?
Johnston, Providence, and Smithfield account for the largest share of risk management lead openings in Rhode Island. Providence drives the most activity as the state's commercial and healthcare hub, while Cranston and Woonsocket draw openings from major insurance and health system campuses that extend beyond the capital's downtown core.
Are there remote risk management lead jobs in Rhode Island?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, given that risk management leads work primarily with data, reporting systems, and cross-functional teams that can function remotely. About 60% of risk management lead openings tied to Rhode Island are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Positions focused on enterprise risk reporting, policy governance, and compliance oversight tend to carry the most remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a risk management lead in Rhode Island with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is securing an analyst or associate role in risk, compliance, or internal audit at one of Rhode Island's large healthcare networks or insurance carriers, such as Lifespan or Amica Mutual, before moving into a lead position. Employers in Providence's financial district frequently promote from within, so lateral moves from roles in financial analysis, regulatory affairs, or operations management are common stepping stones. Pursuing the RIMS-CRMP or FRM early signals readiness for lead-level responsibilities.
