Risk Management Lead Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a risk management lead in New Jersey?
The typical path starts with a bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or a related field, followed by several years in risk analyst or compliance roles. New Jersey does not require a state-issued license for most risk management lead positions, but employers consistently expect a professional credential such as the Certified Risk Manager designation or the Financial Risk Manager certification. Large New Jersey financial services and pharma employers often promote internally from analyst roles once a candidate holds a recognized credential.
How much do risk management leads make in New Jersey?
Risk management leads in New Jersey earn a median of about $129,220 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $81,230 for the lowest 10% to over $199,030 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire risk management leads in New Jersey?
Employers hiring risk management leads in New Jersey right now include JPMorganChase, OceanFirst Bank, and AIG, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's concentration of insurance carriers, global pharmaceutical headquarters, and major financial firms means hiring activity tends to be consistent year-round rather than seasonal.
Which New Jersey cities have the most risk management lead jobs?
Jersey City, New Jersey, and Red Bank account for the most risk management lead openings in New Jersey. Newark and Jersey City draw the bulk of financial services and insurance hiring, anchored by major corporate headquarters and regional offices, while Princeton attracts pharmaceutical and biotech risk roles tied to the research corridor along Route 1.
Are there remote risk management lead jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles, since risk management leads work primarily with data, reports, and cross-functional teams rather than on-site operations. About 63% of risk management lead openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Regulatory compliance oversight and enterprise risk reporting functions are the parts of the role most frequently offered remotely.
How can I get hired as a risk management lead in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior risk analyst or compliance associate role, which large New Jersey employers in insurance and financial services use as a direct feeder into lead positions. Prudential Financial and similar Newark-based carriers run structured rotational or associate programs for candidates without direct lead experience. Earning the Certified Risk Manager designation early signals seriousness to hiring managers, and lateral moves from internal audit, compliance, or financial analysis roles are a common and accepted route into risk management lead tracks across New Jersey.
Where can I find and apply to risk management lead jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to risk management lead jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your experience and target location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
