How do you become a vendor manager in New Jersey?
Most vendor manager roles in New Jersey require a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field, along with several years of procurement or supplier-facing experience. No state-issued license is required for this role. Employers in New Jersey's pharmaceutical and financial services sectors often favor candidates with a Certified Professional in Supply Management or Certified Purchasing Professional credential, which can be earned through national bodies recognized by New Jersey employers.
How much do vendor managers make in New Jersey?
Vendor managers in New Jersey earn a median of about $174,520 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $117,660 for the lowest 10% to over $285,280 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vendor managers in New Jersey?
Companies currently hiring vendor managers in New Jersey include Insmed Incorporated, NEST, and Canon, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New Jersey's dense concentration of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and large retail operations means vendor manager demand remains consistent across both corporate and regulated-industry settings.
Which New Jersey cities have the most vendor manager jobs?
The cities with the most vendor manager openings in New Jersey are New Jersey, Bridgewater, and Wall. Newark and Jersey City attract high volume because of their proximity to New York City and their concentration of financial services, logistics, and corporate headquarters, while Parsippany serves as a hub for pharmaceutical and consumer goods companies that rely on large, complex vendor networks.
Are there remote vendor manager jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most fields, since vendor management is largely analytical and communication-driven rather than hands-on. About 67% of vendor manager openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting broader flexibility in corporate procurement roles. Contract oversight, vendor performance reporting, and sourcing strategy work are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a vendor manager in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a procurement coordinator, purchasing analyst, or buyer role at a New Jersey employer. Large pharmaceutical companies in the Parsippany and Princeton corridors, as well as financial services firms in Newark and Jersey City, regularly hire junior procurement or sourcing analysts as feeders into vendor management.
