Vendor Manager Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vendor manager in New York?
Most vendor manager roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field, though no state-issued license applies to the role. New York employers, particularly in financial services and retail, strongly favor candidates who hold the Certified Professional in Supply Management credential from the Institute for Supply Management or the Certified Supply Chain Professional designation. Entry typically comes through procurement analyst or purchasing coordinator roles at large New York institutions.
How much do vendor managers make in New York?
Vendor managers in New York earn a median of about $166,300 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $102,800 for the lowest 10% to over $282,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vendor managers in New York?
Employers hiring vendor managers in New York right now include Ingram Micro, The New York Public Library, and Ramp, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major hospital systems, and large retail chains means vendor manager demand is spread across industries rather than confined to a single sector.
Which New York cities have the most vendor manager jobs?
The cities with the most vendor manager openings in New York are New York, Buffalo, and New York State. New York City dominates because it is home to the dense concentration of corporate headquarters, financial institutions, and large retail operations that generate the highest volume of supplier and contract management needs, while suburban and outer-borough clusters follow the anchor employers based there.
Are there remote vendor manager jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 100% of vendor manager openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on contracts, supplier communications, and data analysis rather than on-site operations. Contract review, performance reporting, and supplier relationship management are the functions most commonly done fully remote.
How can I get hired as a vendor manager in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a purchasing coordinator or procurement analyst role, which New York employers in healthcare, finance, and retail use as a pipeline into vendor management. Large institutions like NewYork-Presbyterian, Citigroup, and major city agencies regularly hire at this level. Earning a foundational supply chain certification and gaining exposure to contract administration or supplier onboarding makes candidates significantly more competitive for that first step.
Where can I find and apply to vendor manager jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to vendor manager jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings across industries and experience levels. Find the roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
