Vendor Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a vendor manager in Pennsylvania?
Vendor management is not a state-licensed profession in Pennsylvania, so there is no state board exam or registration required. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field. Voluntary credentials such as the Certified Professional in Supply Management or the Certified Supply Chain Professional are widely recognized by Pennsylvania employers and strengthen a candidacy, particularly at larger organizations in the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets.
How much do vendor managers make in Pennsylvania?
Vendor managers in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $141,790 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $84,480 for the lowest 10% to over $213,390 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire vendor managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring vendor managers in Pennsylvania right now include CSL, Turn5, and Deloitte, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of large health systems, regional retailers, and financial services firms means vendor manager demand stays relatively consistent throughout the year across both the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh corridors.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most vendor manager jobs?
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Paoli are the cities with the most vendor manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads due to its density of corporate headquarters, major health systems, and regional distribution hubs, while Pittsburgh's technology and healthcare sectors drive demand there, and smaller markets like Allentown and King of Prussia draw postings from large suburban corporate campuses and logistics operations in the greater Lehigh Valley region.
Are there remote vendor manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than many operational roles, since vendor management is largely analytical and communication-driven rather than hands-on. About 100% of vendor manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of contract oversight and supplier negotiations. The tasks most commonly performed remotely include performance reporting, contract review, and vendor communication, while site visits and onboarding new suppliers tend to require occasional in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a vendor manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a procurement coordinator or purchasing assistant role, both of which are common stepping stones at large Pennsylvania employers such as health systems, university purchasing offices, and regional grocery chains. Many candidates come from adjacent roles in accounts payable, logistics coordination, or operations support. Completing a Certified Professional in Supply Management or similar coursework while working in a support role signals readiness to move into vendor oversight, and Pennsylvania's manufacturing and healthcare sectors actively promote from within procurement teams.
Where can I find and apply to vendor manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to vendor manager jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and preferred location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
