Senior Solution Architect Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior solution architect in Pennsylvania?
Most senior solution architect roles in Pennsylvania require a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or engineering, followed by several years of progressive experience in technical roles such as systems engineer or software architect. Pennsylvania does not issue a state license for this role, so candidates advance through demonstrated project leadership and certifications. Credentials like AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or TOGAF certification are highly recognized by Pennsylvania employers across the Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets.
How much do senior solution architects make in Pennsylvania?
Senior solution architects in Pennsylvania earn a median of about $131,840 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $79,240 for the lowest 10% to over $188,120 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior solution architects in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring senior solution architects in Pennsylvania right now include PNC Financial Services, RKL, and Accenture, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's dense concentration of financial services firms, defense contractors, and large health systems means demand is spread across multiple industry verticals rather than a single dominant sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most senior solution architect jobs?
Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Exton have the most senior solution architect openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia drives the largest share through its concentration of financial services firms, health systems, and major technology consultancies, while Pittsburgh's growing tech sector and Carnegie Mellon-affiliated research organizations account for significant hiring, and Malvern benefits from its cluster of financial technology and insurance headquarters along the Route 30 corridor.
Are there remote senior solution architect jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 67% of senior solution architect openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how heavily this role depends on collaboration tools, documentation, and design work rather than physical presence. The portions of the role most commonly performed remotely include architecture reviews, stakeholder workshops, and detailed design documentation, while on-site presence is most often required during initial discovery phases or major implementation milestones.
How can I get hired as a senior solution architect in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a junior or associate architect role from an adjacent position such as systems engineer, cloud engineer, or infrastructure analyst, all of which Pennsylvania employers in Philadelphia and Pittsburgh hire in volume. Large organizations like Penn Medicine, Vanguard, and Comcast run rotational technology programs and internal architect development tracks that allow engineers to take on design responsibilities before holding the architect title formally. Building a portfolio of architecture diagrams, obtaining an entry-level cloud certification, and contributing to internal proof-of-concept projects are the credentials Pennsylvania hiring managers cite most often when evaluating candidates without direct architect experience.
Where can I find and apply to senior solution architect jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to senior solution architect jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the ones that match.
