Senior Solution Architect Jobs in Massachusetts: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior solution architect in Massachusetts?
Reaching a senior solution architect role in Massachusetts typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or information systems, followed by progressive experience as a systems or cloud engineer, technical lead, or solutions engineer. Massachusetts employers place heavy weight on cloud platform certifications, particularly AWS and Azure, alongside a portfolio of delivered architecture work. Many candidates move into the role from adjacent positions within the large financial services and healthcare technology firms concentrated in the Greater Boston area.
How much do senior solution architects make in Massachusetts?
Senior solution architects in Massachusetts earn a median of about $155,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $98,730 for the lowest 10% to over $211,580 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior solution architects in Massachusetts?
Employers hiring senior solution architects in Massachusetts right now include Schneider Electric, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and State Street, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Massachusetts's concentration of defense contractors, asset management firms, and academic medical centers means demand is spread across both technology-native companies and large established institutions with significant internal IT transformation programs.
Which Massachusetts cities have the most senior solution architect jobs?
The cities with the most senior solution architect openings in Massachusetts are Boston, Natick, and Hingham. Boston drives the largest share through its dense cluster of financial services headquarters, healthcare systems, and consulting firms, while Cambridge and Waltham add volume through biotechnology companies, defense contractors, and enterprise software vendors that have established major engineering hubs along Route 128.
Are there remote senior solution architect jobs in Massachusetts?
Yes, and more than most technical fields. About 64% of senior solution architect openings tied to Massachusetts are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the fundamentally design-and-advisory nature of the role. The portions of the work that remain most location-flexible are architecture reviews, stakeholder workshops, and documentation, while hands-on integration work or regulated-industry clients in financial services and defense occasionally require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a senior solution architect in Massachusetts with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a cloud or systems engineer role at a large Massachusetts employer, then moving laterally into pre-sales or internal architecture work. Companies like Raytheon Technologies and Fidelity Investments run associate technical programs and rotational engineering tracks that place early-career candidates on architecture-adjacent teams. Earning an entry-level cloud certification, building a documented personal or open-source architecture project, and targeting solutions engineer or technical consultant titles first gives candidates without direct architecture experience a credible foothold.
Where can I find and apply to senior solution architect jobs in Massachusetts?
You can find and apply to senior solution architect jobs in Massachusetts on Migrate Mate, which lists current Massachusetts openings from employers actively hiring for the role. Find the roles that fit your experience and apply directly to the ones that match.
