Mid Level Director of Student Services Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level director of student services job?
Position yourself around demonstrated ownership: highlight programs you built or restructured, student outcomes you measurably improved, and teams or initiatives you coordinated without constant supervision. Tailor your application to show familiarity with compliance requirements, case management systems, and cross-departmental collaboration. Employers at this level want candidates who can take a brief and run with it, so specificity in your materials matters more than tenure.
Which companies hire mid level director of student servicess?
Companies hiring mid level director of student servicess right now include Boston University, University of Oklahoma, and Kipp Academy Boston Charter School, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level covers traditional colleges and universities, for-profit education networks, community colleges, and K-12 school districts, all of which typically need experienced professionals who can manage programs with real autonomy.
Are there remote mid level director of student services jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by institution type and role scope. About 11% of mid level director of student services openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with fully remote positions more common in online education organizations and hybrid arrangements more typical at traditional campuses where some in-person student interaction is expected.

Building depth in areas like advising, compliance, or student support operations, and taking on projects beyond your original scope, signals readiness for the broader accountability that mid level positions require.
