Mid Level Education Counselor Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a mid level education counselor job?
Position yourself around the outcomes you have already driven: caseload size managed, student retention improved, or programs you designed and ran independently. Tailor your resume to show ownership, not just task completion. Highlight any specialization, such as college access, academic advising, or career counseling, and demonstrate that you work with limited supervision. Employers at this level want candidates who can step in and contribute without extensive onboarding.
Which companies hire mid level education counselors?
Companies hiring mid level education counselors right now include Alexander Youth Network, Sun River Health, and Naphcare, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a broad range of organizations, including school districts, higher education institutions, nonprofit college access programs, and workforce development agencies.
Are there remote mid level education counselor jobs?
Yes, though availability varies by employer type and specialization. About 3% of mid level education counselor openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting growing demand for virtual advising in higher education and workforce development settings. Roles tied to in-person student services, such as school-based counseling, remain predominantly on-site.
How do I move up to a mid level education counselor role?
Mid level roles go to counselors who have built a track of independent work: managing a full caseload, running programs from planning through evaluation, and earning trust to handle complex student situations without escalation. Developing a clear specialization, such as postsecondary access, mental health referrals, or career planning, and showing measurable results from your early years are the clearest signals that you are ready for this stage.
Which industries hire the most mid level education counselors?
Mid Level education counselor roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Education, and Social Media, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive consistent hiring at the mid level because they serve large, ongoing student or client populations that require experienced counselors who can manage complex cases and contribute to program design.
